Obtaining Grant of Representation or Letters of Administration

Below are the basic steps to gaining a Grant of Probate: - 
  1. Obtain copy of Death Certificate

  2. Ascertain if there is a Will

  3. Identify beneficiaries

  4. Identify Assets & Liabilities

  5. Ascertain if an Inland Revenue Account is required

  6. Pay any Inheritance Tax due

  7. Prepare appropriate form of oath and other documents, including the Will if applicable

  8. Apply to Probate Registry for a Grant of Representation (Grant of Probate or Grant of letters of Administration)
